Jupiter Medical Center Inducts Three New Members to the Board of Trustees
Two Business Executives and a Physician Join Hospital Board
JUPITER, FLA. (February 28, 2018) – The Board of Trustees of Jupiter Medical Center has inducted three new members. Henri J. DesPlaines, Michele Deverich andAnthony Shaya, MD, were appointed during the medical center’s annual Corporate Board Meeting in January.
“Every member of our medical center is dedicated to supporting the health and well-being of our entire community,” said Jupiter Medical Center President and CEO Don McKenna, who also joined the medical center in January. “In my new position as leader of this organization, I am working closely with our distinguished board members to ensure we continue providing world-class care for our patients and that Jupiter Medical Center remains an independent, not-for-profit hospital.”
Each of the new board members brings an exceptional level of experience and commitment to Jupiter Medical Center. They include:
Henri J. DesPlaines, CPA, serves as the chief financial officer and executive vice president of J.J. Taylor Companies, Inc, an organization with beverage distributorships in Minnesota and Florida. His responsibilities include treasury, finance, accounting, human resources, information technology and business acquisitions. A graduate from Western New England University, DesPlaines joined the Taylor organization in 1985 after a 16-year career in public accounting. He also served as general manager of J.J. Taylor Distributing Company, Inc. in Dartmouth, Massachusetts, until early 1989. DesPlaines currently is a member of Jupiter Medical Center’s finance and audit committees, and also serves on a number of other boards.
Michele Deverich is CEO of Strategic Healthcare Associates (SHA), a consulting firm specializing in providing investment banking firms with education and advice in a wide range of potential healthcare business pursuits. Prior to SHA, she worked at Magellan Health Services for more than five years in various leadership positions involving corporate strategic planning, execution of new business initiatives, program and product development as well as mergers and acquisitions in all business units. Deverich came to Magellan Health Services from PricewaterhouseCoopers where she served as managing director of an international healthcare consulting practice in Washington, D.C. She is a member of the National Association of Professional Women and was appointed to Women Business Leaders of the U.S. Health Care Industry Foundation. Deverich currently serves as a member of Jupiter Medical Center’s finance committee.
Dr. Anthony Shaya has been in private practice in the Jupiter area for more than 11 years. He attended medical school at Tulane University in New Orleans. While in medical school, Dr. Shaya also earned a master’s degree in public health. His postgraduate OB/GYN training was also completed at Tulane University/Charity Hospital. Dr. Shaya is board certified by the American Board of OB/GYN and is also a fellow of ACOG, the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is the immediate past chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Jupiter Medical Center, a position he was elected to by his peers.

Stilley. “As members of the medical center’s governing body, they will help ensure the mission and vision of the organization, and I know they will also bring valuable new ideas and insights to our board.”
