CORI Robot Enhances Orthopedic Surgery Capabilities at Jupiter Medical Center

Jupiter, FL – October 14, 2024 – Jupiter Medical Center is proud to announce the acquisition of its third orthopedic robot, the CORI Robotic-Assisted Surgical System. This state-of-the-art technology from Smith+Nephew is designed to enhance the precision and accuracy of joint replacement surgeries, providing patients with the advantage of advanced surgical planning while eliminating the need for CT/MRI scans.

The CORI Surgical System is an innovative, hand-held tool that operates without radiation. It enables orthopedic surgeons to customize knee replacement procedures to meet each patient's unique requirements. In contrast to other robotics-assisted platforms, the CORI system facilitates real-time planning without needing a preoperative CT scan, thereby minimizing patient exposure to potentially harmful radiation.

At the beginning of the surgery, the CORI Surgical System generates a 3D digital model of the patient's knee, allowing surgeons to select the ideal implant size and position for a customized fit tailored to the patient's unique anatomy. Real-time feedback transmits precise information about the knee over 300 times per second, ensuring the joint is properly balanced, the damaged areas are effectively removed, and the implant is positioned with exceptional accuracy to improve functionality. The CORI Surgical System is available for both partial and total knee replacements, making it a versatile choice for surgeons.
