Jupiter Medical Center Achieves Milestone in Heart Health: First Transcatheter Pulmonic Valve Replacement (TPVR) in Palm Beach County

Jupiter, FL – January 15, 2025 – Jupiter Medical Center proudly announces the successful completion of its first Transcatheter Pulmonic Valve Replacement (TPVR), a revolutionary and minimally invasive option for patients with congenital heart disease. This milestone positions Jupiter Medical Center as the first facility in Palm Beach County to offer this advanced procedure, providing local patients with a closer, more accessible alternative.

The procedure was performed by a highly skilled team led by Augusto Villa, MD, Interventional Cardiologist and Medical Director of the Structural Heart Program, alongside Arthur Katz, MD, a cardiovascular surgeon.

The TPVR procedure utilizes the Harmony™ Transcatheter Pulmonary Valve (TPV) System, which is delivered via a catheter inserted through a vein and guided to the heart. Once positioned, the valve expands and begins functioning immediately. This advanced technique is designed to delay the need for open-heart surgery, and results in in shorter recovery times, reduced hospital stays, and an overall enhanced patient experience.
