New Patient Story

I went to the ER with horrible kidney stone pain this past Thursday. I have had stones my whole life so I am very familiar with the time I have, pain that will happen and the blackout that are coming. I had my employee drive me to the ER. At check in I was very close to passing out but they got me into the back very quickly. They put me in a chair and then left. I began hyperventilating and passed out. I woke up on the floor to a nurse yelling at me to stop acting. My hands and feet were unresponsive and I was still hyperventilating. After getting me back up they left for another 30 minutes before starting a lot a bs testing - EKG and blood work. They came back about 45 minutes later. I was hyperventilating so badly my throat was beginning to close and the nurses told me I was doing this to myself and left. I passionately pleaded for help and one of them said stop acting. About 45 minutes later a nurse showed up with some drugs that helped calm me down and stop the pain. They then put me in the waiting room for 1 hr before coming for a CT. I then waited for another hour for them to tell me you have a very large kidney stone and should stay the night. I asked about my care earlier and the attending said that is how some of our nurses react. We see everything here - totally unacceptable. This hospital should be ashamed of this ER.
