LSVT
LSVT Big is a treatment protocol used to improve the motor function of people with Parkinson's Disease and other neurological disorders. Over time, people with Parkinson's Disease begin to move smaller and slower. LSVT Big relies on neuroplasticity, the brain's ability to adapt and change, to recalibrate how people perceive their own movement.
Using the principles of repetition, intensity, and amplitude, the goal of LSVT BIG is to promote carryover of larger movements into everyday activity. This one-on-one program incorporates high-effort exercises and activities to retrain the brain. LSVT BIG can improve movement for both fine motor and gross motor skills. This program can be adapted and customized to meet the needs and goals of each individual.
Research shows that the standardized LSVT BIG protocol can improve balance, trunk rotation, walking, and activities of daily living, in turn improving quality of life.
